The nominations for this years Emmy Awards are were announced by our favorite inmate of OITNB’s Crazy Eyes Uzo Aduba and SYTYCD Cat Deeley… What I’m amazed by was the most enduring performances of the year recognized on this honored platform, first up…

Empire’s greatest asset Taraji P. Henson and How to Get Away with Murder’s Viola Davis each received nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Blackish’s Anthony Anderson and House of Lies’ Don Cheadle received nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

Orange is the New Black’s Uzo Aduba received a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Getting On’s Neicy Nash received a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Brooklyn Nine Nine’s Andre Braugher picked up the nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Nightingale’s David Oyelowo received a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a mini-series or Movie

Bessie’s Queen Latifah and Michael Kenneth Williams both received a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress and Actor in a mini-series or Movie

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie nods went to Regina King for American Crime, Angela Bassett for American Horror Story: Freakshow and Monique for Bessie.

And Kandi Alexander(Scandal) and Cicely Tyson(HTGAWM) received nominations for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.

Interesting tidbit: Now recently every nomination announcement draws it’s own share of controversy by a disgruntled artist airing their frustrations in a dramatic fashion (i.e Kayne and Nicki Minaj). In this instance, Empire’s Lee Daniels was no different by venting his disappointment of the devastatingly hit series being snubbed for Outstanding Drama Series.  Being that it’s brought in historical numbers for Fox, which is airing this years Emmys, to not be giving such an honor but Hollywood always has it’s way of reminding individuals where the true power resides… I guess Mo’Nique was right after all.

Make sure you tune in to support your favorite nominee Sept 20th on Fox
